Fanfiction/fanvids aren't only just a fun fluff read full of romance and silliness; although there is nothing wrong with those types of stories. They can also be used as lens to scrutinize, and critique the original source material, society, or the media in general. Come join us as we take a look at some specific fanworks, that exemplify this. Works like Copperbadge's "Ironsides": a story that takes Tony Stark (Iron man) and Makes him "Antonia Stark", and how being a woman changes how the whole world reacts to them. Another featured transformative work is Lierdumoa's "How much is that Geisha in the window?": a fanvid that explores Joss Whedon's firefly and how even though the whole show is saturated with Asian culture, there is only one Asian actor with any English lines.
