We wanted to take a moment and update everyone on some new security steps for this year’s Con Nichiwa. For the most part you are not going to see much change after you enter the show. The only big addition is a change to how our registration flows into the Grand Lobby and the bag check that will be enforced prior to going through registration. We have worked closely with the Convention Center to ensure that normal bags that are brought in are not turned away (See baggage policy update below).
There will also be no ban on prop weapons!
Con Nichiwa and the Tucson Convention Center have agreed upon an updated and revised baggage policy for our show this year. Please read the following information carefully:
OTHER TYPES OF BAGS PERMITTED IN THE VENUE (but may not exceed 13 5/8” x 15 1/4”):
- Tote bags
- Duffle bags
- Messenger bags
- Diaper bags
- Women’s purses
- Backpacks (not to exceed 15” X 18”)
TYPES OF BAGS THAT ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE VENUE:
- Luggage (all types)
All bags are subject to search by Management during the event. The Tucson Convention Center does not provide storage for any prohibited or confiscated baggage.
**EXHIBITORS AND ARITST ALLEY: There will be a separate entrance open during Exhibit Hall setup hours to bring goods into the venue without the above restrictions. You will be required to show your exhibitor badge to gain access to this special entrance. Please be aware that restricted baggage will NOT be allowed through the normal attendee entrance(s).
**OTAKUCLOSET: We have talked with the convention center and you will be allowed to bring in your items for sale during OtakuCloset. Be prepared to have your items searched prior to entering the convention by giving yourself enough time to get through the bag check line.
We thank everyone for their patience and understanding and we’ll see you at the show next week!
